Fisker Ocean EVs Recalled for Faulty Door Handles

Fisker Recalls 12,523 Ocean EVs Due to Faulty Door Handles

Fisker, the electric vehicle manufacturer, is recalling 12,523 Ocean EVs in Europe and North America due to faulty door handles. The company has identified an issue with the outer door handles that can become stuck because of a malfunctioning mechanism.

Recall Details

The affected vehicles are from the 2023 and 2024 model years. Fisker has announced that technicians will inspect all four side door handles using specialized tools provided by the supplier. Any handles that do not meet safety and operational standards will be replaced as part of the recall.

Reason for Recall

While Fisker estimates that only around 2.5% of Ocean EVs have defective handles, the company has decided to conduct a voluntary recall to ensure the safety and accessibility of the vehicles for passengers.

Notification and Resolution

Fisker plans to notify owners by August 30 about the recall. Transport Canada and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration are expected to post recall notices on their websites soon. Owners are advised to act promptly as Fisker has already declared bankruptcy and is in the process of selling its assets.

Impact of Recall

Of the total recalled vehicles, 8,204 are located in the United States, 3,806 in Europe, and 513 in Canada. The company is taking proactive measures to address the issue and ensure the safety of its customers.
