Fisker Pear: See-Through A-Pillars for Easy Head Movement

Fisker Unveils Production-Intent Version of Electric Pear

Fisker has officially unveiled the production-intent version of its all-electric Pear at its store in Los Angeles. While the vehicle looks similar to the concept version revealed in August, it has undergone some modifications to better represent the model that customers will be able to purchase.

Advanced Headlights and Exterior Changes

One notable exterior difference in the production-intent Pear is the introduction of more advanced headlights. These headlights feature thin LED units connected by an intricate LED light bar and an illuminated Pear emblem in the center. Additionally, the displayed Pear in Los Angeles is equipped with traditional wing mirrors instead of cameras as seen in the concept version.

See-Through A-Pillar and Cabin Updates

The most significant update has been made to the cabin of the Pear. Fisker has introduced its new “see-through A-pillar” design, which utilizes small cameras mounted on the exterior of the A-pillars. These cameras transmit their feed to a pair of portrait-oriented screens, allowing drivers to see what would typically be obstructed by the A-pillar. Fisker claims that this system improves driver awareness and pedestrian safety during left-hand turns. However, some may argue that simply moving your head in any other car can achieve the same result without the need for such a complex solution.

Infotainment Display and Houdini Trunk

Inside the cabin, Fisker has made several other changes. The relatively small infotainment display on the dashboard has been removed and replaced with the same massive portrait screen found in the Ocean model. It is presumed that this screen can also be positioned horizontally like in the Ocean. Additionally, Fisker has showcased the Pear’s unique “Houdini” trunk, which features a tailgate and rear window that slide underneath the trunk’s floor instead of opening traditionally.

Technical Details and Powertrain Options

Full technical and powertrain details about the Pear have not yet been released. However, Fisker has stated that two battery packs will be available, offering ranges of 180 miles (290 km) and 320 miles (515 km) respectively. Both single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) versions will be offered.

Record Vehicle Deliveries and Improved Distribution Strategy

In other news, Fisker recently achieved a record-breaking 107 vehicle deliveries on November 16. This milestone was made possible by a revised distribution strategy that involves partnering with more transportation logistics companies. Additionally, customers who live within 60 miles (96 km) of a Fisker fulfillment location can have their vehicle personally delivered by a Fisker employee.
