Ford Evos Crossover Renamed Mondeo Sport in China, Now Hybrid-Only

The Ford Evos is Rebranded as the Mondeo Sport in China

Introduction

In a strategic move to attract more buyers, the Ford Evos has been rebranded as the Mondeo Sport in China. This crossover now features a self-charging hybrid powertrain, previously only available in the Mondeo sedan, while maintaining its original exterior and interior design.

Rebranding in China

The Ford Mondeo Sport, formerly known as the Evos, continues to carry on the legacy of the Mondeo nameplate in China. The rebranding aims to highlight the close connection between the Mondeo sedan and the crossover, offering customers a familiar yet upgraded driving experience.

Exterior Design

Despite the name change, the exterior design of the Mondeo Sport remains largely unchanged. The only noticeable differences are the Mondeo badging on the rear, Sport emblems, and a refreshed color palette inspired by the Mustang Mach-E.

Interior Features

The interior of the Mondeo Sport closely resembles that of its predecessor, with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 27-inch 4K touchscreen featuring Ford’s SYNC+ 2.0 system. The crossover offers ample cargo space, with a boot capacity of 527 liters expanding to 1,550 liters when the rear seats are folded.

Hybrid Powertrain

The Mondeo Sport is now equipped with a hybrid powertrain, combining a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost engine with an electric motor for a total output of 304 hp. This upgrade provides a significant performance boost compared to the previous ICE-only Evos model.

Pricing and Availability

The Ford Mondeo Sport is set to be available for order in China following its debut at the Chongqing International Auto Show. Pricing starts at ¥209,800 ($28,946) for the base model and ¥229,800 ($31,706) for the ST-Line trim, aligning with the cost of the equivalent Mondeo sedan hybrid.
