Ford GT Mk IV

The Ultimate Track-Only Variant

Ford recently showcased the incredible GT Mk IV at the Velocity Invitational event held at Sonoma Raceway. Spectators had the opportunity to witness this beast in action on the circuit.

A Radical Transformation

The GT Mk IV is not just a hardcore version of the street car; it’s a complete transformation. The entire bodywork has been redesigned, resulting in a staggering amount of downforce, equivalent to that of a modern Indy car, weighing around 2,400 lbs (1,088 kg). The most noticeable visual changes include an updated front fascia with a bold new diffuser, a unique grille, NACA ducts, and custom LED headlights.

Unleashing Power and Performance

Underneath its custom hood, the GT Mk IV boasts massive air extractors, canards, a massive twin-plane wing, and a carbon fiber rear diffuser. Ford has also elongated the bodywork at the rear, giving it a longtail-inspired appearance. During the unveiling, Ford proudly stated that this track-focused machine is quick enough to compete on the front row of any LMP2 grid.

Powerful Performance on the Track

Similar to the road car, the Ford GT Mk IV is equipped with a twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine. While the exact displacement remains unknown, it has undergone significant upgrades for track use. The engine offers three different power modes, delivering 500 hp, 700 hp, and 800 hp respectively. The GT Mk IV also features Multimatic’s innovative Adaptive Spool Valve suspension, bespoke carbon ceramic brakes, and an aggressive appearance that commands attention on the Sonoma Raceway.

Exclusivity and Price

Multimatic will produce only 67 units of the Ford GT Mk IV at its facility in Canada. Each of these limited-edition models comes with a price tag of $1.7 million, making it a highly sought-after collector’s item.
