Ford of Mexico Creates P-Raptor: A Free, 3D Printable Dog Wheelchair

The P-Raptor: Ford’s Free 3D-Printable Wheelchair for Dogs

Heart-wrenchingly, dogs sometimes experience pain, and a loss of mobility can occasionally result from that. Fortunately, there are engineers walking among us, and a few of the ones working for Ford have developed a free wheelchair to help them get around!

Ford Engineers Design a Wheelchair for Dogs

That’s right, engineers working with Ford of Mexico have taken time out of their busy days to design a wheelchair that can be 3D printed anywhere on earth for free. This heartwarming initiative aims to provide mobility assistance to dogs in need.

The P-Raptor: Joining the Powerful “Performance” Family

Ford says that the “P-Raptor” has been designed to help dogs join “the most powerful family in the automotive industry, the ‘Performance’ family.” The wheelchair has been aptly named after the F-150 Raptor and features large wheels that can conquer any terrain.

Features and Design

The P-Raptor wheelchair is designed to provide dogs with enhanced mobility and comfort. Just like the F-150 Raptor, it comes with a blue oval badge in front and headlights to help dogs navigate their surroundings, even at night. The wheelchair can also be equipped with electric motors in the wheels to reduce strain on the dog operating it.

The design of the P-Raptor is versatile and accommodating. The wheels can be placed at the front or rear of the body, depending on the dog’s specific needs. It is also suitable for dogs with limbs that are still present but cannot support their weight.

Additionally, the P-Raptor features adjustable harnesses, allowing it to fit multiple body shapes. Owners can input their pet’s dimensions into the website while downloading the design file to ensure a perfect fit.

Accessible and Easy to Assemble

The P-Raptor is designed to be accessible to as many people and organizations as possible. By utilizing 3D printing technology, Ford of Mexico aims to make the wheelchair more widely available. The decreasing costs of 3D printing have contributed to its accessibility, making it an affordable option for pet owners in need of mobility assistance for their dogs.

Santiago Muleir, a Product Development Engineer at Ford, stated, “The objective of using 3D printing technology is that a greater number of people and associations can have access to P-Raptor, taking into account that this type of printing has become more popular in recent years and the costs have gone down, making it a more accessible product.”

Coming Soon: Free Download and Easy Assembly

Ford of Mexico has announced that the P-Raptor will soon be available for free download. Once downloaded, the wheelchair can be easily 3D printed and assembled. This initiative aims to provide a practical and cost-effective solution for dogs in need of mobility assistance.

The P-Raptor is a heartwarming example of how technology and innovation can be used to improve the lives of animals. Ford’s dedication to developing this free 3D-printable wheelchair demonstrates their commitment to making a positive impact in the world.

We eagerly await the release of the P-Raptor and look forward to seeing it in action, helping dogs regain their mobility and independence!
