Recall Details

A new recall from Ford involves almost 4,600 Mustang sports cars. The issue stems from casting imperfections in the rear suspension knuckle. Ford will inspect and replace affected parts at no cost to owners.

The Importance of Suspension Parts

Suspension parts not only contribute to comfort on the road but also to safety. The rear suspension knuckle is an integral part that serves as a major joint in the system. However, 4,595 Ford Mustangs from the 2024 model year may have a fault in this component, which could lead to dangerous consequences.

Potential Fractures

Ford states that the rear suspension knuckles in the recall population might fracture due to casting imperfections at the supplier. Slag may have entered the part cavity due to a debris filter not functioning properly.

Inspection and Repair

Owners of the affected recall population are urged to bring their cars in for a tech inspection. Technicians will reference specific serial numbers to determine if the knuckles need to be replaced. The inspection process should not take long, and the tires do not need to be removed. Ford allows 2.9 hours of labor time for the work, with additional hours for alignment and other tasks.

No Accidents or Injuries Reported

While Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this issue, there have been two potentially related reports of Mustangs with cracked suspension knuckles.

Notification and Resolution

Dealers are already aware of the issue, and owners will receive a letter about the situation by the end of the month. Ford will address the problem by inspecting and replacing the affected parts at no cost to owners.
