Ford RS200 Reborn: A Limited Run Special for its 40th Anniversary

Ford is set to revive the iconic RS200 with the help of Brit firm Boreham. This modern take on the Group B legend has received official backing from Ford, marking a significant milestone for car enthusiasts.

Remastering History with Boreham Motorworks

Boreham Motorworks, a part of the DRVN Automotive Group based in London, has secured a licensing agreement with Ford to produce and remaster some of the car maker’s most beloved historic models. The first project in line is the revival of the Ford RS200, set to be unveiled later this year to celebrate its 40th anniversary.

A Fresh Start in Coventry

The new RS200 will be built from scratch in Coventry, promising an entirely new creation rather than a rehash of existing components. Similar to other remastered classics like the Kimera Evo37 and HWA Evo, the Boreham RS200 will retain its original silhouette and mechanical makeup while incorporating modern upgrades like LED lights for a contemporary touch.

Staying True to its Roots

Boreham plans to keep the RS200’s mid-mounted engine, composite bodywork, and four-wheel drive system intact, enhancing them with modern equipment and potentially boosting performance. Despite these updates, the company is committed to delivering an authentic analogue driving experience reminiscent of the raw appeal of the Group B rallying era.

Continuation Models and Future Plans

In addition to the remastered RS200, Boreham has been granted permission to produce “blueprint-accurate” continuation versions of other Ford classics, starting with the MK2 Escort. These models will adhere to original technical specifications and even feature period-correct VIN numbers, thanks to Ford’s support.

Looking ahead, Boreham plans to revive at least five more iconic Ford vehicles, with possibilities including the Capri, GT40, Sierra Cosworth, and XR2i. These limited-run models are expected to generate significant interest among enthusiasts eager for a taste of automotive history brought back to life.

Exciting Times Ahead

Ford Performance’s Will Ford expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Boreham Motorworks, highlighting the shared vision of reviving iconic nameplates for modern audiences. As anticipation builds for the release of the remastered RS200 and future projects, it’s clear that Boreham’s commitment to preserving automotive heritage is set to make waves in the industry.

With other firms like MST also reviving classic rivals such as the MG Metro 6R4, the automotive world is witnessing a renaissance of iconic models from a bygone era. Stay tuned for more updates on Boreham’s modern take on the legendary Ford RS200.
