Ford’s SecuriCode Keypad Now an Optional $455 Dealer Upgrade for 2025 F-150

Ford F-150 Drops SecuriCode Keypad as Standard Feature for 2025 Model

Ford has decided to remove the SecuriCode keypad as a standard feature on the 2025 F-150. Previously, this feature allowed owners to access their vehicles using a simple key code. However, customers can still opt for the SecuriCode keypad by paying an additional $455 to have it installed by the dealer.

The Legacy of SecuriCode

The SecuriCode keypad has been a staple feature for Ford vehicles since the 1980s. With a five-digit code, users could unlock the driver’s door, and with a specific sixth digit, all doors would unlock. This feature provided convenience and peace of mind for owners who wanted to leave their keys in the car without worrying about access upon their return.

However, advancements in technology, such as phone-as-a-key services, have made the SecuriCode keypad less relevant in today’s automotive landscape. As a result, Ford has decided to remove it as a standard feature on the F-150, following its removal from other models like the Bronco, Maverick, and Escape.

Dealer-Installed Option

While the SecuriCode keypad may no longer be standard, Ford is still offering it as a dealer-installed add-on for customers who desire the feature. For an additional $455, owners can have the keypad installed in their F-150. However, it appears that the feature’s days are numbered, as Lincoln plans to continue offering it as a standard feature on the Corsair for 2025.

Convenience and Future Trends

As an owner of a Ford vehicle with the SecuriCode keypad, I can personally attest to its convenience. The ability to access my car without carrying keys or worrying about losing them during outdoor activities has been invaluable. It will be interesting to see how many customers choose to add the keypad as a dealer-installed option now that it is no longer standard.
