Genesis GV60 Magma EV Set to Begin Production in Fall 2025

Introduction

Genesis has officially announced that its high-performance GV60 Magma EV will commence production in the fall of 2025 for the model year 2026. The GV60 Magma is anticipated to draw inspiration from the powerful 641 hp Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

Magma Sub-Brand Debut

The Magma sub-brand from Genesis will make its dynamic debut at the Goodwood Festival. The event will showcase the GV60 Magma Concept, G80 EV Magma Concept, G70 Track Taxi Nordschleife, and GV80 Coupe Concept as they take on the hillclimb challenge.

Launch Details

Genesis has confirmed that the GV60 Magma will be the first vehicle from its new Magma sub-brand, with production scheduled for the latter half of 2025. Korean sales are expected to begin around the same time, while European and US markets may see a delay in availability.

Goodwood Festival Appearance

Genesis chose the Goodwood Festival of Speed as the platform to unveil its Magma lineup, showcasing various concept cars in action. The GV60 Magma Concept, G80 EV Magma Concept, GV80 Coupe Concept, and G70 Track Taxi Nordschleife will all participate in the event.

Technical Specifications

While specific technical details about the GV60 Magma remain undisclosed, Genesis has hinted at “improved battery and motor technology” and unique suspension tuning for enhanced handling. Visual enhancements include a rear spoiler, diffuser, vented wheel arch extensions, larger brakes, and stylish alloy wheels.

Powertrain Speculations

Although exact powertrain specifications are unknown, it is speculated that the GV60 Magma will closely resemble the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N’s setup. With up to 641 hp from a dual-motor, all-wheel drive configuration, the GV60 is expected to deliver impressive performance. The possibility of offering Hyundai’s simulated paddle-shift transmission is also being considered.
