Genesis Recalls Vehicles Due to Fuel Pump Issue

Genesis is conducting a recall of 31,440 vehicles from the 2022-2023 model years, including GV70s, GV80s, G80s, and G90s. The impeller in the low-pressure fuel pump of these vehicles may swell in high heat conditions, potentially causing the vehicles to stall.

Recall Details

  • Genesis is reaching out to affected owners on June 18 to replace the fuel pump assembly with a new part.
  • This is the second recall related to impellers in fuel pumps for Genesis vehicles.
  • The company previously recalled 19,272 vehicles for a similar issue in September 2023.

Investigation and Resolution

Genesis traced the problem back to the material used in the impellers, which was found to be out of specification. As a result, the company initiated recalls to address the faulty fuel pumps in the affected vehicles.

Impact and Resolution

Vehicles included in this recall are at risk of stalling due to fuel pump failures, posing a safety hazard on the road. Despite 463 reported incidents, Genesis has not received reports of crashes, injuries, fatalities, or fires related to this issue in the U.S. Owners will be contacted to bring their vehicles to a Genesis retailer for inspection and replacement of the fuel pump assembly with properly manufactured impellers.
