GM Designer’s Sketch Suggests Compact Chevy Electric Pickup

GM’s Next-Generation Electric Pickup Truck: A Look at the Intriguing Design Elements

General Motors is set to release its next-generation of pickup trucks, which includes the Chevrolet Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV. However, if these vehicles don’t excite you about the prospect of owning an electric pickup in the future, perhaps the creation of General Motors creative designer Darby Jean Barber will.

Barber’s sketches were shared on the GM Design page on Instagram, depicting a smaller Chevrolet electric pickup that looks seriously cool and would surely stand out on the open road if it is ever mass-produced. Although it’s a big “if,” it’s still nice to dream, right?

The front fascia of the pickup is particularly intriguing. The truck is rocking a pair of thin LED headlights and separate LED daytime running lights positioned further down on the bumper. The blacked-out bumper supports a prominent skid plate, and the truck lacks a traditional grille. However, it makes up for it with black elements and yellow tow hooks.

The design elements continue with vents positioned on either side of the hood, just in front of the slim wing mirrors. Barber has designed it as an extended cab truck with large front doors and small rear doors, as well as a relatively small rear passenger compartment.

The Chevy’s rear is particularly impressive, with a full-width LED light bar and small horizontal LED lights positioned below the Chevrolet badge, presumably acting as turn signals. A black bumper also stands out, as does the accompanying skid plate.

The Chevrolet Silverado EV proves that the car manufacturer isn’t afraid of shaking up the designs of its pickup trucks. Therefore, it wouldn’t be surprising if some of the design elements of this truck influenced future models.

In conclusion, General Motors’ next-generation electric pickup trucks are something to look forward to, but Barber’s creation has certainly caught our attention. The intriguing design elements make us hopeful for the future of electric pickups.
