Caterham 485 and 485 CSR Final Edition Models Bid Farewell to Europe

Introduction

Caterham has announced the Final Edition (FE) models for the 485 and 485 CSR, marking the end of production for these powerful EU-6 compliant Caterham Sevens in Europe. The limited production run will include 85 units for Europe and 10 for Japan.

Details of Final Edition Models

  • The Final Editions of the 485 and 485 CSR will feature unique exterior and interior touches.
  • The decision to discontinue these models is due to the stricter EU-7 emission regulations.
  • The FE models will be offered in limited numbers, with exclusive features.

Specifications of the 485 and 485 CSR

The 485 and 485 CSR are equipped with a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ford Duratec engine that produces 225 hp and 205 Nm of torque. These models can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 224 km/h.

Key Differences Between 485 FE and 485 CSR FE

The 485 CSR FE is available exclusively in the large chassis configuration, featuring advanced suspension systems and larger wheels compared to the standard option.

Visual Enhancements of Final Edition Models

The Final Edition models will sport satin black stripes, premium exterior shades, and unique badging. The interior will feature Final Edition embroidery, numbered plaques, Sports Hex Black leather upholstery, Alcantara inserts, a carbon dashboard, and fully carpeted floors.

Availability and Pricing

A limited number of Final Edition models are available for order, with pricing starting from €67,495 ($72,452) before VAT and local taxes. The production numbers for Europe and Japan are limited, with slight discrepancies in the commemorative plaque numbering.

Conclusion

Olivier Jouanne, European Territory Manager for Caterham, expressed mixed emotions about the end of production for these iconic models. The discontinuation of the 485 series will allow Caterham to focus on expanding their product offerings in Europe.
