The HWA Evo: A Modernized Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II

Introduction

The engineering experts at HWA have revealed their highly anticipated modernized version of the iconic Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo II. This restomod, known as the Evo, was showcased through renderings last year and the first model will be auctioned off in late July.

Key Features of the HWA Evo

  • The price of the car is a hefty €714,000 (~$767,000) before taxes.
  • Each vehicle starts as an original 190E but undergoes extensive modifications.
  • Standard features include six-piston front and four-piston brakes, with carbon ceramic discs available as an option.

Performance and Design

Underneath the exterior of the Evo lies an original Mercedes 190E shell, with significant structural changes to the front and rear end. The car boasts bespoke carbon fiber body panels that pay homage to the original 190 E 2.5-16 Evo II design.

The Evo is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine from Mercedes-Benz, producing up to 493 hp and 405 lb-ft (549 Nm) with the optional Affalterbach package. Paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the car can reach speeds of up to 185 mph (298 km/h).

Suspension and Braking

The suspension system of the Evo features double wishbones and KW dampers, with electronic adjustment available in performance models. The car is equipped with large disc brakes and calipers, with carbon ceramic discs offered as an upgrade.

Aerodynamics and Interior

The exterior of the Evo showcases flared arches, a front splitter, and a rear wing for both style and aerodynamic efficiency. The interior includes a digital instrument cluster, Recaro seats, and smartphone integration.

Availability

Only 100 units of the HWA Evo will be produced, with most already sold at a starting price of €714,000 (~$767,000) before taxes.
