“Hybrid Option Added to New Dacia Duster Starting at £18,745 | Giga Gears”

New Dacia Duster: Affordable SUV with Modern Upgrades

Introduction

The new Dacia Duster is set to hit the UK market in November, starting at a price of £18,745. This makes it one of the most affordable SUVs available and a true bargain for consumers.

Engine Options

The base level Expression trim comes with a 99bhp four-cylinder Bi-Fuel engine, which runs on both petrol and LPG. With a full tank, the Duster can travel approximately 800 miles without needing to refuel.

The previous model’s entry-level 88bhp three-cylinder turbo petrol and diesel options have been discontinued due to declining demand in Europe.

Hybrid Powertrains

The new Duster now offers hybrid powertrains for the first time, thanks to its move onto the CMF-B platform, also used by the Nissan Juke. This upgrade significantly improves the SUV’s practicality, refinement, and dynamics without compromising its compact size.

Two hybrid powertrain options are available. The mild-hybrid setup starts at £21,245 and includes a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, a 48V electric motor, and a 0.9kWh battery. This variant is also available with a four-wheel drive system starting at £23,445.

The Hybrid 140, priced from £24,245, combines a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre petrol engine with two electric motors for a total output of 138bhp. Its 1.2kWh battery can be recharged through regenerative braking and allows for 80% of city driving on electric power alone.

Enhanced Features

The new Duster boasts several enhanced features, including hill descent control, which limits speed to a maximum of 18mph. It also has 8mm more ground clearance (217mm in total) than front-wheel-drive models and impressive approach and departure angles of 31deg and 36deg.

The SUV’s exterior design has been updated to resemble the 2021 Bigster concept, featuring wider haunches and Y-shaped lighting signatures. The underbody, wheel-arch, and bumper claddings are made from a durable plastic called Starkle, composed of up to 20% recycled material.

Inside, the Duster offers a durable and practical interior with a color-contrasting dashboard panel and a chunky steering wheel with physical buttons. The car’s software can be updated over the air, eliminating the need for a visit to the dealer.

Additionally, the Duster’s boot space has increased from 445 litres to 472 litres, surpassing competitors like the Ford Puma and Skoda Kamiq.

Youclip Accessory System

The Duster introduces a new accessory system called Youclip, which includes square-shaped mounts throughout the car capable of withstanding around 8kg of force. Compatible accessories include a tablet stand, cupholder, bag hook, induction-charging phone holder, and portable torch. Dacia plans to sell these accessories through their dealers, but also expects owners to create their own using 3D printing technology.

The new Dacia Duster offers an affordable SUV option with modern upgrades and a range of hybrid powertrains. With its improved features and practicality, it remains one of the best bargains on the market.
