Infiniti Unveils New Design Language at Pebble Beach

Infiniti to Unveil Next-Gen Design Language at Pebble Beach Automotive Week

Infiniti has recently announced that they will be showcasing a concept vehicle at the prestigious Pebble Beach Automotive Week. The vehicle, called the QX Monograph, is said to provide a glimpse into the brand’s next-generation design language. This exciting reveal will take place on August 17, with the vehicle making its public debut on the Concours awards ramp.

One of the notable features of the QX Monograph is its evolution of the current “double-arched grille.” Infiniti promises that this design element will be further enhanced, along with new and updated lighting signatures. From the teaser image released, it appears that the vehicle will also feature an illuminated badge, a trend that has been popular among its competitors in recent years. The grille itself seems to have a rearward-raked top portion, although it is unclear how far it extends into the hood.

In addition to the QX Monograph, Infiniti will also be showcasing quarter-scale design models from their company archives. This includes references to the iconic Skyline design, marking the first time these models will be publicly displayed. Nissan designers and craftspeople have painstakingly restored and rebuilt nearly 100 of these models, with four of them set to be shown at the event. These models include an early Japanese production car from 1916, a ’66 Skyline from the historic Prince marque, a ’70 Skyline, and a 1995 Skyline GT-R in the iconic Midnight Purple hue.

The unveiling of the QX Monograph and the display of these historical models come at a time when Infiniti is experiencing significant success in terms of sales. In the first half of 2023, Infiniti has sold 32,286 units, a substantial increase compared to the same period last year. The QX60 has been the standout performer, accounting for nearly half of all Infiniti sales with 14,870 units sold. In comparison, during the same period in 2019, Infiniti sold 63,058 vehicles, with the QX60 capturing 22,836 customers.

Alongside these exciting developments, Infiniti is also implementing a new global retail architecture design. The aim is to create a clean and minimalist exterior design that seamlessly blends with an open and light-filled interior. The concept shown above hints at a mid-century modern aesthetic, evoking a sense of luxury through its emphasis on light and space. However, it remains to be seen how this design will be integrated into Nissan dealerships, which also handle non-luxury vehicles like the Sentra sedan and work with sub-prime lenders.

Overall, Infiniti’s participation in Pebble Beach Automotive Week is highly anticipated. The unveiling of the QX Monograph and the display of historical models demonstrate the brand’s commitment to innovation and its rich heritage. With the promise of a next-generation design language and continued sales success, Infiniti is poised to make a significant impact in the luxury automotive market.
