“Introducing Toyota Crown’s Limited Edition ‘Matte Metal’ with Low-Maintenance Paint | Giga Gears”

Toyota Crown Crossover Limited Matte Metal Edition

Introduction

In an effort to attract more customers to the Crown Series in Japan, Toyota is introducing limited-production special editions with unique and appealing features. The first one to be unveiled is the Crown Crossover Limited Matte Metal edition, which showcases a new type of paint that offers improved durability compared to traditional matte finishes.

Matte Metal Finish

The highlight of the “Limited Matte Metal” edition is its Matte Metal finish, which overcomes the usual drawbacks associated with matte paints. This is achieved through a new surface treatment called “TM Coat,” an ultra-thin protective coating that makes the paint stain-resistant. Unlike other matte finishes, this special paint can be taken through a car wash without any concerns.

Exterior and Interior Design

The Crown Crossover Limited Matte Metal edition is based on the high-spec Toyota Crown Crossover RS Advanced model and features several unique design elements. The exterior is enhanced with matte metal cladding and matte black 21-inch alloy wheels, giving the vehicle a cool and stylish appearance. Inside, the “Black Lumish” theme is applied, featuring black leather, red stitching, black accents, and “warm steel” inserts on the dashboard. The center console, door cards, and dashboard are covered in a soft-padded material for a premium feel. The interior also includes discreet “Matte Metal” lettering and comes with a silver key and a stylish case for the manual made of recycled leather.

Powertrain

The special edition is equipped with a more powerful version of the hybrid powertrain, generating a combined output of 345 hp (257 kW / 349 PS) and 542 Nm (400 lb-ft) of torque. This power is delivered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine and dual electric motors. The Crown Crossover Limited Matte Metal edition features a six-speed automatic gearbox and the electronic “E-Four Advanced” system, which distributes power to all four wheels.

Pricing and Availability

The Crown Crossover Limited Matte Metal edition is exclusively available through Toyota’s Crown-dedicated flagship dealerships in Japan. It has a starting price of ¥7,500,000 ($51,410), representing a significant premium over the standard Crown Crossover RS Advanced model, which starts at ¥6,400,000 ($43,945). The company has not disclosed the exact number of units that will be produced, but it is described as a “limited” edition.
