Isuzu D-Max Electric Version Coming in 2025 | Giga Gears

**Isuzu Unveils First Battery Electric Vehicle Based on D-Max Pickup**

Isuzu has given a sneak peek of its initial battery electric vehicle, which is built on the D-Max midsize pickup platform. This new electric version maintains the payload and towing capabilities of the traditional turbodiesel models.

**Public Debut and Market Launch**

A pre-production prototype of the Isuzu D-Max BEV will be showcased for the first time at the Bangkok International Motor Show on March 27 in Thailand. The European market can expect to see this electric vehicle hit the roads by 2025. Additionally, Isuzu will display another D-Max prototype equipped with a mild-hybrid diesel system, although its production status remains uncertain.

**Impressive Performance**

The zero-emission Isuzu D-Max BEV retains the same ladder-frame chassis as its diesel counterparts but swaps out the turbodiesel engine for a full-time 4WD system with newly developed e-Axles in the front and rear. Power is sourced from a 66.9 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The electric motors deliver a combined output of 174 hp and 325 Nm of torque, making the BEV more potent than the base-spec 1.9-liter diesel variant.

**Design and Availability**

Visually, the Isuzu D-Max BEV features a redesigned front end with a covered grille for improved aerodynamics and blue accents. The dual-cab bodywork remains similar to the ICE-powered D-Max, with a new set of six-spoke wheels and “EV Concept” badges. The production version’s appearance may vary from this prototype.

Isuzu plans to launch the D-Max BEV in select European markets like Norway in 2025, with further availability in the UK, Australia, Thailand, and other regions based on market demands and EV charging infrastructure readiness.

In addition to the fully electric model, Isuzu also introduced the D-Max Hi-Lander MHEV prototype, featuring a mildly electrified version of the 1.9-liter turbodiesel with a 48V system. More details on this model will be disclosed later.

While competitors like Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger have introduced mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions, Isuzu stands out by offering a BEV powertrain option in its lineup.
