Jaguar to discontinue I-Pace and E-Pace SUVs, keeping only F-Pace in lineup

Jaguar to Discontinue I-Pace and E-Pace SUVs, Focusing on F-Pace Line

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced plans to discontinue all Jaguar models except for the F-Pace as the brand transitions to an all-electric luxury lineup. This decision includes pulling the plug on the E-Pace and electric I-Pace models, which were previously assembled by Magna Steyr in Austria. The move follows the discontinuation of Castle Bromwich-made XE, XF, and F-Type models earlier this year.

Reasons for the discontinuation were cited by JLR boss Adrian Mardell, who stated that the axed models were “close to zero-profitability products.” The brand has not yet confirmed an official end date for the production of these models.

Sales figures played a significant role in the decision, with the F-Pace outselling the rest of the Jaguar lineup combined in the UK. The Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender now dominate JLR sales, accounting for 59% of the company’s half-year global sales.

Looking ahead, Jaguar’s new era will kick off with the introduction of a 600bhp electric four-seat GT car in 2023, followed by a Bentley Bentayga-style luxury SUV in 2026 and a large luxury saloon. These new models will be built on Jaguar’s bespoke JEA platform, marking a departure from its current lineup.

Jaguar North America CEO Joe Eberhardt assured customers of a smooth transition, stating, “We will have a production schedule that enables us to have a continuous supply of vehicles until the new cars come.” The brand aims to ensure a seamless handover as it shifts focus towards its new electric offerings.
