Introducing the Jeep Avenger: Europe’s New Electric SUV

Jeep, the originator of SUVs, is ready to make a big splash in the UK and across Europe with its latest offering – the Jeep Avenger. Despite its success in Italy, where it benefits from its relationship with Fiat, Jeep has struggled to gain traction in the European market. In fact, only one in every 100 SUVs sold in Europe is a Jeep. However, with the introduction of the Avenger, Jeep’s new owner Stellantis hopes to change that.

The Avenger has already made waves by winning the prestigious European Car of the Year award. This is largely due to the fact that it is the first Jeep designed and engineered specifically for Europe, and it will also be manufactured here. In fact, the Avenger is so European-centric that it won’t even be sold in the US.

Measuring 4.08 meters in length, the Avenger is Jeep’s smallest road car to date. It is positioned in the booming supermini SUV segment, competing against popular models like the Ford Puma and Renault Captur. What sets the Avenger apart from its competitors is its electric powertrain, making it incredibly on-trend.

Antonella Bruno, Jeep Europe boss, describes the Avenger as “the right car at the right time.” And with a starting price of £35,700 in the UK (which can go up to £39,000 with options), it is also attractively priced. The Avenger will offer a simplified range of trims and easy-to-add packs and color options to streamline the buying process.

The initial Avenger model will be front-wheel drive, powered by a 154bhp electric motor with 192lb ft of torque. It will feature a 51kWh (usable) battery, providing a range of 249 miles. The battery can be charged at up to 100kW, and a heat pump is included as standard, increasing the range by 10%.

In addition to the electric model, Jeep plans to introduce petrol and hybrid versions of the Avenger next year. Initially, these models were only intended for Italy, Poland, and Spain due to their lack of EV infrastructure. However, due to popular demand, they will also be available in the UK. Furthermore, a more powerful four-wheel-drive 4xe model is set to arrive next year, although specific details have yet to be revealed.

The Avenger is not just about its impressive specifications; it also offers a thrilling driving experience. UK driving impressions by Will Rimell have been overwhelmingly positive, with praise for its smooth acceleration and handling. The Avenger delivers a comfortable and refined ride, making it a joy to drive both in urban environments and on long journeys.

With its sleek design, advanced technology, and environmentally friendly powertrain, the Jeep Avenger is poised to make a significant impact in the European market. Jeep’s commitment to designing and engineering a vehicle specifically for Europe demonstrates their dedication to meeting the needs and preferences of European consumers.

As the Avenger hits the roads in the UK and across Europe, it is expected to attract a new wave of customers to the Jeep brand. With its competitive pricing, impressive range, and stylish design, the Avenger offers a compelling option for those in the market for a compact SUV. Jeep’s future in Europe looks brighter than ever with the arrival of the Avenger.
