Jeep’s Expansion Plans

Jeep, known for its rugged off-road vehicles, is set to expand its lineup with a focus on plug-in hybrids. The brand is aiming to increase PHEV sales by up to 50% this year, with plans to launch a Gladiator 4xe and range-extended Wagoneers in the near future.

Jeep’s Sales Targets

In an interview with CNBC, Jeep CEO Antonio Filosa shared that the brand is targeting sales of 160,000 to 170,000 plug-in hybrids in the United States in 2024. This marks a significant increase from the 113,113 PHEVs sold by the brand last year.

Upcoming Models

Building on the success of the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xe models, Jeep is gearing up to introduce more eco-friendly variants. The upcoming Gladiator 4xe, set to debut in 2025, will feature a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a 17.3 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and an electric motor. This setup will give the SUV a combined output of 375 hp and an electric-only range of 21 miles.

Future Innovations

Looking ahead, Jeep plans to launch 4xe versions of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in 2025. These models will boast a range-extended powertrain inspired by the Ram 1500 Ramcharger, offering impressive performance and a range of up to 690 miles.

Exploring Hybrid Options

While plug-in hybrids and EVs are taking center stage, Jeep is also considering traditional hybrids. Reports suggest that a hybrid powertrain could make its way to the redesigned Cherokee, showcasing the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions.
