Porsche specialists have taken their creativity to new heights by envisioning Porsches that were never made by the automaker. One such creation is the Kalmar 9X9, a unique and radical transformation of the Porsche 993 coupe, paying homage to the iconic 959 supercar from the 1980s. The Kalmar 9X9
The Kalmar 9X9 is based on the mid-1990s Porsche 993-generation 911 but features a completely new carbon-fiber bodyshell. Inspired by the Porsche 959, the 9X9 boasts a range of enhancements, including double-wishbone pushrod front suspension, optional rear-axle steering, adaptive dampers, titanium brake calipers, and carbon fiber rotors. The powertrain is sourced from the 992-generation, with various horsepower options available.
Three Variants
Kalmar offers the 9X9 in three different forms:
- 9X9: The fastest and most powerful variant, equipped with all-wheel drive, a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission, and a 917 hp (930 PS) 3.8-liter flat-six engine from the 992 Turbo S. It achieves a claimed 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 2 seconds.
- 9X9 Sport: This variant delivers 641 hp courtesy of a tuned 3.0-liter turbo engine from the 992 GTS. It offers a choice between a seven-speed manual or PDK transmission and achieves a 0-62 mph time of 3.7 seconds.
- 9X9 Leichtbau: The lightweight variant, inspired by the GT3, features a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter six-cylinder engine from the 992 GT3, producing 523 hp. It is available with a six-speed manual transmission or optional PDK and achieves a 0-62 mph time of 3.5 seconds.
Pricing and Availability
Kalmar plans to produce nine examples of each variant, with prices starting at $2.1 million. The 9X9 offers a unique and exclusive ownership experience for Porsche enthusiasts who appreciate the blend of classic design and modern performance.
