Kimera K39: Lancia 037-inspired Pikes Peak Racer Unveiled

Kimera K39: The Ultimate Hyper Retromod Racer Inspired by Lancia 037

Italian restomod specialist, Kimera, has unveiled its latest creation – the K39. This new racer is being hailed as the world’s first ‘hyper retromod’ and draws inspiration from the iconic Group 5 Lancia Beta Montecarlo. The K39 features a unique ‘silhouette’ construction, with bodywork designed to mimic a road car draped over a bespoke carbonfibre monocoque chassis.

Technical Specifications and Performance Goals

While full details of the K39’s technical specifications are yet to be revealed, Kimera has hinted at some key features. The racer is expected to be powered by a twin-charged 2.2-litre four-cylinder engine, similar to the one used in the Evo37 and Evo38 models. However, the K39 is set to deliver well over 600bhp, surpassing its predecessors in terms of performance.

Pikes Peak Record Attempt

Kimera has ambitious plans for the K39, with the racer set to compete in the upcoming Pikes Peak International Hillclimb. The Italian firm has its sights set on breaking the current record held by an electric car, aiming to beat the impressive time set by the Volkswagen ID R. With its high-power output and aerodynamic design, the K39 is poised to take on the challenging 12.4-mile course.

Road-Going Version in the Works

Following its Pikes Peak debut, Kimera plans to release a road-going version of the K39. A limited number of these hyper retromod cars will be produced, offering enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of automotive history.

Stay tuned for more updates on the Kimera K39 as it gears up for its record-breaking attempt at Pikes Peak.
