Lanzante unveils 920kg Porsche 911 with 625bhp F1 V6 engine

Introducing the Lanzante Tag Championship: A Formula 1-Powered Porsche 911 Turbo

At the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed, Petersfield-based engineering firm Lanzante will be unveiling a highly anticipated upgraded version of the Porsche 911 Turbo. Known as the Tag Championship, this exotic vehicle features a powerful Formula 1-inspired engine that is sure to turn heads.

Powering this beast is a 1.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine developed by Porsche and branded by Tag. Originally used in McLaren’s F1 cars during their championship-winning streak in the mid-1980s, this engine has been enhanced by Cosworth for road use. With upgraded internals, improved cooling, and lighter titanium turbochargers, the engine now produces an impressive 625bhp and can rev up to 10,250rpm.

In addition to the powerhouse under the hood, the Tag Championship 911 boasts a reworked six-speed gearbox from the 993-gen 911, featuring custom gear ratios for a top speed of 200mph. The chassis has been overhauled, and many body panels have been replaced with lightweight carbon fiber.

Inside, the focus is on performance with Recaro bucket seats, a Personal steering wheel reminiscent of McLaren’s F1 car, and a stripped-down interior that sheds unnecessary weight. With these modifications, the Tag Championship 911 weighs just 920kg, a significant reduction of over 400kg.

Limited to just three units, each referencing one of McLaren’s F1 drivers’ titles, the Tag Championship 911 is a rare and exclusive vehicle. The first model will pay homage to Alain Prost’s iconic 1985 helmet design.

With its powerful engine, lightweight construction, and unique design elements, the Lanzante Tag Championship is set to make a lasting impression on automotive enthusiasts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
