LED Fog Lights: The Most-Wanted Feature in New Vehicles – Report

LED Fog Lights and Wireless Charging: The Most Wanted Features in New Vehicles

New cars are constantly evolving, with manufacturers incorporating advanced technology and safety features to attract buyers. However, certain amenities have proven to be more desirable than others. According to AutoPacific’s 2023 Future Attribute Demand Study (FADS), LED fog lights and wireless charging are the most-wanted features among buyers.

The FADS survey asked more than 11,700 consumers who plan to purchase a new car within the next three years to rate their interest in 145 vehicle features. The data collected serves as a valuable tool for automakers to gauge consumer preferences before investing in new features or products.

Surprisingly, LED fog lights emerged as the most desirable feature in 2023, with 48 percent of respondents rating it as a must-have. Wireless device charging also garnered the same level of interest. Unresponsive driver stop assist followed closely behind, with 43 percent of buyers considering it essential. Folding exterior mirrors and wireless charging for rear passengers rounded out the top five most-wanted features.

The complete list of the top ten most-wanted features, according to AutoPacific’s 2023 FADS, includes LED fog lights, wireless charging for front passengers, unresponsive driver assist, automatic power-folding exterior mirrors, wireless charging for rear passengers, heated and ventilated front seats, household power outlets, sunroof/moonroof, self-cleaning exterior cameras and safety sensors, and drive profile settings.

Interestingly, some of the features that AutoPacific identified as dealbreakers for buyers also appeared on J.D. Power’s 2023 Initial Quality Study (IQS) list of the most frustrating options. The IQS found that new vehicle owners reported increasing frustration with their wireless charging systems and experienced more issues with advanced safety technology this year.

These findings highlight the importance of understanding consumer preferences and addressing potential pain points in vehicle design. While LED fog lights and wireless charging are highly sought-after features, manufacturers must also ensure that these features are reliable and user-friendly to avoid customer dissatisfaction.

In response to the growing demand for wireless charging, automakers need to invest in developing robust and efficient charging systems. Buyers expect seamless integration with their devices, allowing them to charge their smartphones and other devices effortlessly while on the go.

Similarly, advanced safety technology, such as unresponsive driver stop assist, needs to be refined to provide a smooth and reliable experience. As more vehicles incorporate these features, it becomes crucial for automakers to prioritize user-friendly interfaces and ensure that the technology functions as intended.

The convergence of consumer demand and technological advancements presents an opportunity for automakers to differentiate themselves in a competitive market. By delivering on the most-wanted features while addressing potential pain points, manufacturers can enhance the overall ownership experience and build customer loyalty.

As the automotive industry continues to evolve, it is essential for manufacturers to stay attuned to consumer preferences and adapt their offerings accordingly. AutoPacific’s FADS provides valuable insights into the features that buyers prioritize, allowing automakers to make informed decisions about future product development.

In conclusion, LED fog lights and wireless charging have emerged as the most-wanted features in new vehicles according to AutoPacific’s 2023 FADS. However, manufacturers must also address potential pain points associated with these features to ensure customer satisfaction. By understanding consumer preferences and investing in reliable and user-friendly technology, automakers can create vehicles that meet the evolving needs of buyers and stand out in a competitive market.
