Autocar Awards 2024: Recognizing Industry Leaders and Top New Models

Renault Group CEO Luca de Meo has been honored with Autocar’s prestigious Issigonis Trophy for his remarkable efforts in turning around the company’s fortunes. The Mundy Award for Engineering was presented to David Moss, Nissan’s engineering chief, for his groundbreaking work on the Nissan Qashqai.

Volkswagen’s design boss Andreas Mindt was recognized with the Design Hero award for revitalizing the brand with fresh designs. Stefanie Wurst, Mini’s leader, received the Outstanding Leader award for her role in introducing a new generation of models and transforming the brand’s image.

The Innovation Award for 2024 went to the Catesby Tunnel, a unique aerodynamic testing facility created from a former railway tunnel. The Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato was named Britain’s Best Driver’s Car for its exceptional performance and versatility across different road conditions.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N was awarded the Best Performance Car for its groundbreaking approach to electric performance vehicles. Toyota was honored as the Best Manufacturer for consistently delivering brilliant and reliable cars while maintaining a passion for driving.

Other notable winners at the Autocar Awards included the BMW 5 Series (Best Hybrid), Cupra Born (Best Electric Car), Kia EV9 (Best Large Car), Renault Clio (Best Small Car), and Ford Mustang (Best Dream Car).
