M25 closure to affect Goodwood Festival of Speed

Goodwood Festival of Speed Attendees Warned of M25 Closure

If you are planning to attend the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, be prepared for potential delays due to the planned closure of a section of the M25. The closure will occur between junctions 10 and 11 from 9pm on Friday, July 9, to 6am on Monday, July 15. This closure is expected to cause significant delays for those traveling to the festival.

National Highways has advised drivers in the area to anticipate delays, especially if they are heading to Gatwick Airport or other large events like the Festival of Speed. Organizers of the festival have recommended checking your route before setting off and allowing extra time for potential delays.

The closure is necessary for National Highways to install a new bridge at the junction 10 roundabout, which provides access to the A3, a crucial route from London to the south coast. Drivers are urged to follow the temporary signs and ignore their sat-navs, instead following the designated diversion route.

For those looking to avoid the closure, National Highways suggests heading in the opposite direction around the M25 via the Dartford Crossing as a potentially quicker alternative.

Diversions have been outlined for the July M25 closure:

– Junction 10 to junction 11: Northbound A3 to Painshill junction, A245 towards Woking, then A320 to M25 junction 11.
– Junction 11 to junction 10: A320 south towards Woking, A245 towards Byfleet and Painshill junction, then southbound A3 to junction 10.

Be sure to plan your journey accordingly and follow the official diversions to minimize any disruptions caused by the M25 closure.
