The Chinese invasion of Europe continues, and this time it comes in the form of an electric pickup truck. MAXUS, a brand owned by SAIC, has unveiled the new eTerron 9 at IAA Hannover. This electric pickup is touted as “Europe’s first 4×4 electric serial pickup truck built on a dedicated electric platform.”

The eTerron 9 features a sleek “New Electrified Mecha” design, with a fully enclosed grille and vertical headlights. It also boasts a powered frunk with ample storage space. The exterior showcases edgy bodywork and plastic body cladding, along with a power tailgate and an extendable bed into the cabin.

The cabin of the eTerron 9 is surprisingly luxurious, with two-tone leather, freestanding displays, metallic accents, and a floating center console. It offers 20 storage compartments and an eight-way power driver’s seat with ventilation and massage functions. The front seats can be folded down to create a flat sleeping surface.

Under the hood, the eTerron 9 is equipped with a 102 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, providing a WLTP range of 267 miles. It can be fast-charged from 20% to 80% in approximately 40 minutes using a 115 kW DC charger. The truck also features a Vehicle to Load function, allowing the battery to power multiple outlets.

The eTerron 9 boasts a dual-motor all-wheel drive system, delivering a combined output of 436 hp. It can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 5.8 seconds. The truck’s semi-monocoque construction provides a towing capacity of up to 7,716 lbs and a maximum payload of 1,367 lbs. It also features a height-adjustable air suspension and various driving modes.

European sales of the MAXUS eTerron 9 are set to begin later this year, offering a powerful and capable electric pickup option for consumers. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new addition to the electric vehicle market.
