Launch in China and Europe

The highly anticipated Mazda EZ-6 electric sedan, which was initially planned for release exclusively in China, will now be available as a global model. Mazda has announced that the EZ-6 will launch in the fall of 2024 in China and Europe. However, it has not been confirmed if the model will be sold in the United States.

Shared Platform with Deepal SL03

The Mazda EZ-6 shares its platform with the Deepal SL03, an electric sedan produced by Mazda’s joint venture partner, Changan, in China. The EZ-6 will be offered with both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and range-extender (EREV) options in China. It remains uncertain if the range-extender version will be available in other markets, such as Europe. The BEV model is expected to have a range of approximately 373 miles (600 km), while the range-extended version is projected to exceed 621 miles (1,000 km) on a single tank of fuel.

Performance and Specifications

Official performance details for the Mazda EZ-6 have not been released. However, it is expected to have similar specifications to the Deepal SL03. The Chinese-market SL03 offers BEV models with 58.9 kWh and 66.8 kWh battery packs, powering a single electric motor that produces 215 hp (160 kW) and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque. A more powerful version with 255 hp and 236 lb-ft (320 Nm) of torque is also available.

Availability and Market

Mazda has confirmed that the EZ-6 will be available in China and Europe. While specific European countries have not been announced, it is expected that the EZ-6 will not be sold in the United States. The global availability of the range-extender version and further market details are yet to be confirmed.
