McLaren Excludes Entry-Level Supercar Below Artura

McLaren’s Future Super Car Lineup

McLaren has made it clear that the Artura will continue to be the starting point in their supercar range for the foreseeable future. The company has no plans to introduce another model below the Artura, as confirmed by a McLaren executive. Instead, they are focusing on developing a successor to the McLaren 750S that could move up the ladder.

The End of the Sport Series

The Sport Series, which included models like the 540C, 570GT, 570S, and 600LT, has been discontinued by McLaren. The company is now shifting its attention towards supercars, hypercars, and even SUVs under the “Shared Performance” banner.

McLaren Artura: The High-Performance Hybrid Supercar

Since the launch of the Artura, McLaren has positioned it as their first “High-Performance Hybrid Supercar,” distancing it from the previous 570S models. The Artura features a cutting-edge hybrid powertrain with a twin-turbo V6 and electric motor combination that outperforms the Sport Series offerings, elevating it to a higher level of supercar performance.

Challenging Ferrari with the Artura

McLaren has set its sights on competing with popular supercars like the Ferrari 296 GTB/GTS. During the Artura’s development, McLaren benchmarked against the Ferrari, emphasizing the Artura’s weight advantage of being 83 kg lighter than its closest rival. Despite both being electrified “entry-level” supercars, McLaren aims to leverage the Artura’s lighter weight and competitive pricing against Ferrari’s offerings.

Future of McLaren’s Super Car Lineup

While McLaren remains tight-lipped about their future products, speculations suggest that the successor to the 750S will push closer to the Ultimate series in terms of power and performance. This new supercar is expected to bridge the gap between the 570S and the Artura while maintaining a distinct position in McLaren’s lineup.
