Introduction

McLaren has unveiled its most intricate bespoke livery to date, paying tribute to the company’s ‘Triple Crown’ motorsport successes. The special edition McLaren 750S features a detailed paint job commemorating McLaren’s victories at the Monaco Grand Prix, 24 Hours of Le Mans, and Indianapolis 500. This release is part of the company’s 60th-anniversary celebrations.

Unveiling at Velocity International

The McLaren 750S supercar was revealed by Formula 1 driver Lando Norris at the Velocity International motorsports festival in California. Joining Norris were IndyCar driver Pato O’Ward and Le Mans winner Derek Bell. The event showcased the intricately designed livery, which will be featured on a total of six cars. All six vehicles, either coupe or Spider models, have already been sold.

The Meaning Behind the Livery

The ‘3-7-59’ livery on the McLaren 750S holds significant meaning. The number three represents McLaren’s victory at the 1974 Indy 500, while the number seven symbolizes the company’s first win at the Monaco Grand Prix in 1984. Lastly, the number 59 pays homage to the McLaren F1 GTR’s triumph at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Intricate Design and Paintwork

The livery on the McLaren 750S is a work of art that takes over 1200 hours to complete. Paint technicians at McLaren Special Operations (MSO) meticulously apply 20 different colors to achieve the desired effect. The design draws inspiration from the winning race cars, with the McLaren MP4/2’s white and red livery featuring prominently on the bonnet. The sides of the car pay tribute to the McLaren F1 GTR with its grey color scheme and ’59’ race number.

Attention to Detail

Even the key fobs for the special edition cars feature hand-painted artwork that matches the multi-colored exterior of the vehicle. Inside, the Triple Crown logo designs are stitched in McLaren Orange into the headrests of the carbon fiber racing seats. The seats also showcase Triple Crown art etched in graphite Alcantara and finished with white contrast stitching. The pedals are marked with laser-etched artwork that matches the paint details on the exterior and are coated with ceramic and adorned with white, black, and orange Triple Crown stars.

A Stunning Expression of McLaren’s Expertise

Michael Leithers, the Chief Executive Officer of McLaren Automotive, described the special edition 750S as the most challenging project ever delivered by McLaren Special Operations. He praised the car as a stunning expression of McLaren’s industry-leading paint expertise and a new benchmark in its class.
