Record-Breaking Performance

A prototype of the upcoming McMurtry Speirling Pure has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new lap record at the Castle Combe Circuit in the UK. With former F1 driver Max Chilton behind the wheel, the pint-sized electric vehicle completed the circuit in just 54.559 seconds, surpassing the lap times of Formula 3 and GT3 race cars.

Impressive Speed and Power

  • The Speirling Pure achieved this record-breaking lap time with only 80% power.
  • Thanks to its exceptional downforce, the car can generate 3Gs of cornering force.

Unmatched Performance

Prior to the McMurtry Speirling Pure’s lap, the fastest lap record was held by a Formula 3 car, which was 4.037 seconds slower. Even a GT3 car, specifically a Lamborghini Huracan, recorded a lap time 9.796 seconds slower than the Speirling Pure. These impressive figures highlight the exceptional performance of the McMurtry Speirling Pure.

Future Lap Record Attempts

Despite achieving this remarkable lap time, the prototype was only operating at 80% power. McMurtry plans to make further lap record attempts in the coming years, gradually increasing the power and downforce levels to reach 100%.

Exciting Milestone

McMurtry’s managing director, Thomas Yates, expressed his excitement about this achievement, stating, “This is a fun milestone to achieve. It’s not everyday you get to see a car and driver go so much faster than what’s gone before. Having tested at Castle Combe for years, it was about time we showed what the car can do around our local circuit.”

About the McMurtry Speirling Pure

The McMurtry Speirling Pure was unveiled in mid-2023 as a production version of the one-off prototype that set a record at the Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb. This compact hypercar measures just 3,450 mm in length and 1,580 mm in width, weighing only 1,000 kg. It is equipped with an electric powertrain delivering 999 hp and impressive cornering capabilities, generating over 3G of force.
