Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV vs Porsche Taycan: 1,000 HP Showdown | Giga Gears

Mercedes-AMG’s New Electric Four-Door Coupe: A Closer Look

Sneak Peek at the Electric AMG Prototypes

Mercedes-AMG is gearing up to launch a high-performance electric vehicle in the form of a four-door coupe. Spy photographers in Germany recently caught two prototypes of this electric AMG undergoing testing, albeit heavily camouflaged.

Design Inspired by Vision AMG Concept

Both prototypes were covered in different camouflage patterns, concealing their bodywork. The design seems to take inspiration from the Vision AMG concept, featuring a low-slung silhouette, aerodynamic roofline, and sporty stance. The longer hood and pronounced rear shoulders hint at the car’s performance-oriented nature.

Powertrain and Performance

Underneath the camouflage lies the all-new AMG.EA architecture, designed specifically for high-performance electric models. The electric four-door coupe is expected to pack lightweight electric motors from Yasa and a high-density battery pack from Sila Nanotechnologies. With a rumored output of nearly 1,000 hp, it will outperform its plug-in hybrid ICE counterpart, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door 63 S 4MATIC+ E Performance.

Rivaling the Porsche Taycan

The electric AMG aims to challenge the Porsche Taycan’s supremacy in the high-performance electric sedan segment. Set to hit showrooms in 2025, it will complement the existing Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door lineup. The gasoline-powered GT 4-Door may continue alongside its electric sibling, offering consumers a choice between traditional performance and cutting-edge electric technology.

What’s in a Name?

The final name for this electric powerhouse remains a mystery. Will it carry on the AMG GT 4-Door legacy, or will Mercedes opt for a new, distinctive name? Only time will tell.
