New Generation of Mercedes-Benz CLA: ICE and EV Versions

Mercedes-Benz CLA

Introduction

A new generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLA is currently in development, and it will include both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicle (EV) versions. The EV model will feature several AMG variants and will be powered solely by electricity. Recently, heavily disguised prototypes of the electric AMG CLA were spotted at the Nurburgring, signaling the arrival of all-electric AMGs.

Expected Features

  • The new model could launch with a dual electric motor setup and all-wheel drive.
  • Mercedes-Benz’s standard electric CLA is expected to have around 466 miles (750 km) of range.
  • The new model is expected to premiere in 2025.

Design and Styling

The prototypes of the upcoming CLA electric AMG bear a strong resemblance to the previously spotted heavily camouflaged model. The design is inspired by the CLA Concept, featuring a sleek and swooping roofline. The headlights are still concealed, but the brake lights reveal circular LED signatures similar to the concept. The AMG influence can be seen in the wider front and rear fenders and the presence of a large ducktail lip spoiler, which is likely a placeholder for a more pronounced spoiler on the production model.

Performance and Range

While details about the AMG model’s performance and range are scarce, it is expected to offer a boost in power compared to the standard CLA models. However, the driving range may be limited due to the higher performance. The AMG EV will likely feature unique wheels with grippy tires and larger brakes.

Release Date

The new CLA AMG EV is anticipated to be launched next year, although an official release date has not been announced yet.
