Mercedes-Maybach S680: The Ultimate Land Yacht

The Bespoke Mercedes-Maybach S680 Inspired by a 1939 Racing Yacht

Introduction

In a surprising move, Mercedes-Maybach has revealed a one-of-a-kind S-Class inspired by a 1939 racing yacht. This luxury sedan, finished in a stunning two-tone Nautical Blue and Patagonia Red exterior with a delicate pinstripe, has already been sold to an undisclosed customer.

The Design

The bespoke Mercedes-Maybach S680 pays homage to the 150th anniversary of Robbe & Berking, a renowned silversmith based in Flensburg. The exterior features a unique combination of Nautical Blue Metallic and Patagonia Red, separated by an elegant pinstripe in Opalite White Metallic.

The History

The inspiration for this design comes from the Sphinx yacht, a 21.48m vessel built in 1939 by Abeking & Rasmussen. Restored to its former glory in 2005, the yacht is now owned by Oliver Berking, the founder of Robbe & Berking Classics yacht shipyard in Flensburg.

The Interior

The interior of the Mercedes-Maybach S680 is as special as its exterior. Adorned with Maybach Manufaktur Exclusive nappa leather in Crystal White and intricate diamond quilting, the seats, headliner, door panels, and storage cubby exude luxury and sophistication.

Under the Hood

Powering this bespoke S680 is a twin-turbo 6.0-liter V12 engine producing 603 hp and 900 Nm of torque. In addition to the flagship S680 trim, the Maybach S-Class is also available in S580, S480 (exclusive to China), and S580e (plug-in hybrid) variants.

Conclusion

While the pricing of this unique Mercedes-Maybach S680 remains undisclosed, it is clear that the owner shares a passion for sailing and luxury sedans. With its exquisite design and powerful performance, this bespoke creation is truly a work of art on wheels.
