Introduction

Mercedes has unveiled the Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram, the first ever Maybach-branded SL. This two-seater convertible features a 577 hp bi-turbo V8 engine and a refined suspension for maximum refinement. Buyers can choose from red and black or white and black exterior treatment, and all versions come with a bespoke Maybach grille.

Visual Impact

The Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram, though not as imposing as the Vision Mercedes-Maybach 6 Cabriolet concept, still makes a visual impact. The Maybach logo is prominently displayed on the front air intake and soft-top roof, similar to luxury brands like Louis Vuitton. The exterior also features a chrome bonnet fin and other brightwork details to enhance its luxury appeal.

Interior Luxury

The interior of the SL680 is designed to enhance the luxury feel. The dashboard and touchscreen are similar to other SL models, but the media display and digital gauge cluster have Maybach-specific animations and graphics. The steering wheel, seats, lower dash, and door panels are all covered in crystal-white nappa leather, adding to the opulence of the cabin.

Performance

While the SL680 may not have the V12 engine of the S680 sedan, its 577 hp bi-turbo V8 still delivers impressive power. The car can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 162 mph. To ensure a refined driving experience, the SL680 features softer engine mounts, throttle pedal recalibration, and a noise-optimized exhaust system.

Two-Seat Configuration

The Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram is a two-seater convertible, offering a sportier driving experience. The rear seats have been replaced with an aerodynamic cover that extends the rear deck, giving the car a sleeker appearance. This configuration harks back to the classic two-seat Maybach models of the past.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for the Mercedes-Maybach SL680 Monogram has not been announced yet, but it is expected to be significantly higher than the SL63’s price of $187,000. European deliveries will begin in spring 2025, with other markets, including the US, receiving the car later in the year.
