The highly anticipated new generation of the Mitsubishi Triton/L200 midsize pickup is set to make its debut on July 26. However, even before its official release, the rally-spec variant of the vehicle is already entering its first competition. Team Mitsubishi Ralliart, backed by the factory, will be participating in the Asia Cross Country Rally (AXCR) in August 2023. Additionally, the turbocharger has been enhanced to increase engine response throughout the entire rally range, resulting in a powerful rally car capable of handling any road conditions.

In preparation for the upcoming rally, each of the three Triton prototypes completed around 800 km (500 miles) of off-road endurance testing near the Khao Yai National Park in Thailand. This testing took place between June 19 and June 23. The fact that there were no major issues during the testing has brought extra confidence to the defending champions, increasing their hopes for a possible second consecutive win. Mitsubishi engineers will provide technical support for the trio of Triton Group T1 prototype pickups, which will be driven by Chayapon Yotha (Thailand), Rifat Sungkar (Indonesia), and Katsuhiko Taguchi (Japan).

The Asia Cross Country Rally 2023 is scheduled to take place between August 13 and 19, during the rainy season.
