The New 2024 Dodge Charger: A Break from Tradition

Introduction

The unveiling of the new Dodge Charger in early March has sparked a lot of discussion. Departing from tradition, the new Charger will be available as both a sedan and a coupe simultaneously. Additionally, for the first time, buyers will have the option to choose between an electric or gasoline powertrain.

Electric and Gasoline Options

Dodge will introduce the new Charger with two EV options this fall, followed by gas-powered models next year. An 800-volt Charger EV, aiming to rival Tesla, is also in the pipeline. The flagship ICE model boasts 550 hp from its 3.0-liter Hurricane six-cylinder engine.

Model Lineup

The all-electric Daytona variant will hit dealerships this summer, with the gasoline model arriving next year featuring a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine. The base Charger Daytona R/T offers 496 hp and 404 lb-ft of torque, while the electric Scat Pack model delivers 670 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque.

Performance and Range

The R/T can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds, while the Scat Pack achieves the same in just 3.3 seconds. The R/T has a range of 317 miles, while the Scat Pack can travel up to 260 miles on a single charge.

Future Offerings

As the Charger family expands, four additional 400-volt electric versions will be introduced, along with an 800-volt flagship model. Dodge is not abandoning internal combustion entirely, with a base gas-powered Charger featuring a powerful twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine.

Pricing and Conclusion
