Exciting News from MG: The Next-Gen HS Unveiling at Goodwood Festival of Speed

MG is gearing up to introduce the latest iteration of the HS model at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The brand, owned by SAIC, has teased the upcoming SUV with a video showcasing its sleek design.

What to Expect from the New MG HS

  • MG has confirmed that the second-generation HS will make its debut at Goodwood FOS.
  • This compact SUV shares similarities with China’s Roewe RX5.
  • The MG HS is anticipated to come in petrol, PHEV, and EV variants.

The current MG HS made its debut in 2018 and underwent a facelift in 2020. Now, four years later, a fresh design is on the horizon to enhance its competitiveness in the compact SUV segment.

Distinctive Features of the New MG HS

Despite the teaser video’s attempt to conceal the exterior design, leaked patent drawings have given us a glimpse of what’s to come. The MG HS shares design elements with the Roewe RX5, confirming its connection to the Chinese SUV. To differentiate it from its Roewe counterpart, MG has given the HS a unique front grille, sportier bumper intakes, and distinctive headlights.

Powertrain Options and Competition

The upcoming MG HS is expected to offer petrol, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrains, promising improved efficiency over its predecessor. Rivals in the segment include popular models like the VW Tiguan, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Peugeot 3008, and Ford Kuga. More details about the new generation of this compact SUV will be revealed on July 11 at Goodwood.
