German Customers Show Enthusiasm for the New Land Cruiser
German customers got their first glimpse of the new-generation Land Cruiser at the 20th Bush Taxi Meeting in September. The excitement generated by the event led to reservations for the Land Cruiser opening on December 21. However, due to overwhelming demand, all available units were sold out within half an hour. Interested buyers are now required to join a waiting list.
Three Versions Available in Germany
The Land Cruiser is offered in three versions in Germany: the Executive, Tec, and First Edition. While Toyota has not disclosed the exact distribution of these trims within the initial allocation, it has confirmed that the Land Cruiser First Edition will be limited to 3,000 units across Europe. Deliveries in Germany are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2024.
Impressive Features and Powertrain Options
The EU-spec 2024 Land Cruiser is built on Toyota’s global GA-F platform, which boasts a 50% increase in stiffness compared to its predecessor. The European models come equipped with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine producing 201 horsepower, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. A mild-hybrid diesel variant with a 48-volt system will be introduced in 2025. In the United States, the Land Cruiser is available with a more powerful turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine generating 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque.
All German models of the Land Cruiser come well-equipped, but the Tec Edition and First Edition offer additional features such as a decoupling front stabilizer bar, 20-inch alloy wheels, a digital rearview mirror, a JBL premium audio package with 14 speakers, and a head-up display.
