Nissan Ariya Nismo: The Sporty Flagship Electric SUV Arriving in the UK Next Year
Introduction
The Nissan Ariya Nismo is set to hit the roads of the UK in early 2023, offering a powerful and aerodynamic version of the flagship electric SUV.
Enhanced Performance and Design
Based on the Ariya e-4orce, the Nismo variant features tuned throttle dynamics, a Nismo driving mode, and a range of aggressive exterior design elements.
The power has been increased by 128bhp to a total of 429bhp, while the torque remains at 443lb ft. This makes it more powerful than the Volkswagen ID 4 GTX but slightly less powerful than the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT.
The Ariya Nismo retains the same 87kWh battery pack, providing an expected range of 310 miles.
Improved Handling and Control
Nissan has focused on enhancing the Ariya’s mechanical grip, achieved through a retuned four-wheel-drive system that adjusts power distribution to each wheel 10,000 times per second.
The Nismo variant features a new 60:40 rear bias, providing a sportier feel compared to the standard car.
Furthermore, the suspension has been reworked, and the steering has been retuned to improve agility at high speeds and body control.
Aerodynamic Design
The Ariya Nismo benefits from aerodynamic enhancements developed with the assistance of Nissan’s Formula E race team. These additions maximize downforce, reduce drag, and optimize airflow along the body.
The exterior features a more prominent front splitter, a roof vortex generator, deeper side skirts and rear bumpers, and a ducktail spoiler.
Sporty Interior
The cabin of the Ariya Nismo largely resembles that of the standard Ariya, with the addition of body-hugging Nismo-branded sports seats trimmed in suede with red pinstripes.
Availability and Pricing
European deliveries of the Ariya Nismo will commence in January. The pricing will start above the current range-topper, the £59,025 e-4orce Evolve+.
