Nissan Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Caravan with Special Edition

Nissan is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the original Caravan light commercial vehicle with a special edition release in Japan. The Caravan 50th Anniversary model features unique visual enhancements while maintaining the tried-and-tested formula that has made it a popular choice for many years.

A Legacy of Success

The Caravan, now in its sixth generation, was first introduced as the NV350 in 2011. Despite its age, it has remained on sale and received two facelifts in 2017 and 2021. The enduring popularity of the Caravan can be attributed to its reliability and versatility.

Distinctive Design Features

The 50th Anniversary model stands out with its black finish on the grille, electrically retractable mirrors, door handles, sliding door rails, and tailgate garnish. These stylish accents complement the striking “Cashmere Greige” body color, which is one of four available options. Additionally, “50th Anniversary” emblems can be found on the tailgate and embroidered on the headrests, adding an exclusive touch to the vehicle’s design.

Unparalleled Performance

The anniversary special is based on the Grand Premium GX trim and is available in a single body type measuring 5,080 mm (200.0 inches) in length. It features a stretched wheelbase, standard roof height, and low floor. While primarily used for work purposes, many customers also enjoy the Caravan for leisure activities. Despite its age, the LCV comes equipped with various Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety systems, including an around-view monitor.

Customers can choose between two engine options for the special edition Caravan. The first is a 2.0-liter QR20DE petrol engine that generates 129 horsepower (96 kW / 130 PS) and 178 Nm (131 lb-ft) of torque. The second option is a Mitsubishi-sourced 2.5-liter 4N16 diesel engine, delivering 130 horsepower (97 kW / 132 PS) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque. Both engines are paired with a 7-speed automatic gearbox, with power transmitted to either the rear or all four wheels.

Availability and Pricing

The Nissan Caravan 50th Anniversary will be available for purchase in Japan from October 10, 2023, until March 2024. The pricing starts at ¥3,483,700 ($23,668) for the 2WD version and goes up to ¥4,453,900 ($30,260) for the 4WD variant with the diesel engine.

The limited-edition Caravan celebrates the rich history and enduring success of Nissan’s light commercial vehicle lineup. With its special design touches and reliable performance, the Caravan 50th Anniversary is sure to attract both loyal fans and new customers alike.
