Nissan Sets 2024 Murano Prices, Removes Base Trim

Nissan Prices Murano for 2024, Drops Base Trim

As we enter the year 2024, Nissan has made a few minor adjustments to its midsize Murano crossover. This vehicle has been on the market for nearly a decade with minimal changes, and it seems Nissan is sticking to its winning formula.

Price Changes and Trim Levels

For the 2024 model year, the least expensive Murano is now the front-wheel drive SV model, priced at $37,920. This is only a slight increase from last year’s model. However, the base S trim has been discontinued, resulting in a higher entry price for the Murano. The SV and SL trims are expected to be the most popular choices among buyers. The SL trim now comes with a powered panoramic sunroof as a standard feature, bringing its price up to $41,880. The top-of-the-line Platinum trim commands a price of $45,930.

Powertrain and Performance

The 2024 Murano retains its familiar powertrain specifications. It is equipped with a 3.5-liter engine that delivers 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) known as Xtronic. While front-wheel drive comes standard, all-wheel drive is available for an additional $1,700.

Interior Features and Technology

With the discontinuation of the base S trim, Nissan has made some changes to the interior features of the Murano. Cloth seats are no longer offered, and basic wheels and manually adjusted passenger seats have been removed as well. The gauge cluster remains analog, which sets it apart from most competitors who have transitioned to digital displays. The infotainment screen measures 8 inches, making it one of the smaller screens in its segment. However, modern touches like USB-C ports can still be found throughout the cabin. Interestingly, the Murano is one of the few vehicles in 2024 that still comes standard with a CD player on certain trims.

The Future of the Murano

Some skeptics may view these feature consolidations as a sign that the Murano is nearing the end of its lifecycle. Combined with the lack of significant updates in recent years and the industry’s focus on electrification, there may be some truth to this speculation. However, compared to other Nissan models, the Murano continues to sell well. In the first half of 2023, Nissan sold 21,188 units of the Murano, surpassing the sales of the larger Armada but falling short of the popular Rogue crossover. By comparison, the outdated Ford Edge sold 46,484 units during the same period.

Conclusion

While the 2024 Nissan Murano may not have undergone any major changes, it remains a reliable and popular choice in the midsize crossover segment. With its comfortable interior, powerful engine, and competitive pricing, the Murano continues to attract buyers. However, it will be interesting to see how Nissan adapts to the evolving automotive landscape in the coming years and whether they will introduce a fully electric version of the Murano or focus on other models in their lineup.
