Nissan Z Outperforms Toyota Supra in Q1 Sales

The Rise of Nissan in Q1 2024

In the first quarter of 2024, Nissan Group, which encompasses both Nissan and Infiniti, experienced a surge in sales in the United States. The group sold a total of 252,735 vehicles, with the Rogue leading the pack as the best-selling model with 90,804 deliveries. This success was attributed to a strong sales strategy that focused on key models like the Rogue.

Nissan Z vs. Toyota Supra

One standout performer for Nissan was the Z sports car, which saw a remarkable 44% increase in sales compared to the previous year. In contrast, Toyota’s Supra faced a decline of 45.9%, with only 484 units sold in the last quarter. This shift in sales numbers clearly indicates the growing popularity of the Nissan Z over its competitors.

The Decline of the GT-R

While the Z thrived, Nissan’s GT-R experienced a significant drop in sales, plummeting by 46.2% to just 77 units. With the GT-R nearing the end of its production cycle, this decline was expected as consumer interest shifted towards newer models.

Infiniti’s Sales Performance

On the other hand, Infiniti, a part of the Nissan Group, faced challenges in Q1 2024. The brand saw an overall decline of 11.8% in sales, with models like the Q50 and QX50 being exceptions with slight increases. However, most other models in the Infiniti lineup recorded a decrease in sales.

Key Highlights from Nissan’s Q1 Sales

Several Nissan models witnessed positive growth in sales during the quarter. The Ariya, an all-electric vehicle, saw a 44.8% increase in sales, while the Kicks and Frontier models rose by 16% and 16.6%, respectively. However, models like the Pathfinder and Armada experienced notable declines in sales.

Infiniti’s Sales Figures

Infiniti’s total sales for Q1 2024 stood at 13,904 units, reflecting an 11.8% decrease from the previous year. While models like the Q50 and QX50 saw slight increases, others like the Q60 and QX80 faced significant declines in sales.

Overall, Nissan’s strong performance in Q1 2024 showcased the brand’s resilience and ability to adapt to changing market dynamics. With a focus on key models and strategic sales initiatives, Nissan Group demonstrated its commitment to driving growth and success in the competitive automotive industry.
