Omoda Launches in the UK with Pre-Reservations for Two SUVs

Chinese car manufacturer Chery has introduced its Omoda brand in the UK, offering pre-reservations for its first two models and planning to expand its dealer network. The brand’s initial lineup includes the petrol-powered Omoda 5 and its electric counterpart, the Omoda E5.

The Omoda 5, similar in size to the Nissan Qashqai, is equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine producing 187bhp. On the other hand, the E5 features a 204bhp electric motor with a 61kWh battery, offering an estimated range of 257 miles on the WLTP test cycle.

Both SUVs have received a five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP. Prices for the Omoda 5 and E5 will be announced soon, with deliveries expected to begin in August this year.

In addition to the current models, Omoda plans to introduce the mid-sized 9 SUV in 2024, followed by the sleek 7 and 3 SUVs in 2025 and 2026, respectively. The brand aims to establish a network of 100 joint-branded franchised dealerships by the end of 2024.
