Peugeot discontinues PSE models, focusing on hot EVs | Giga Gears

Peugeot CEO Open to Road-Going Version of 9X8 Hypercar

Peugeot has decided not to expand its PSE range beyond the hot 508 model, choosing to focus on full electrification instead. The PSE range, which stands for Peugeot Sport Engineered, is a key priority for the company according to CEO Linda Jackson.

Electrification Takes Priority

Jackson explained, “We are investing €40 billion for electrification, and Peugeot will have a full electric car lineup by the end of this year. Every model will have an electric version, so we have to make our priorities.”

Future Possibilities

While there are no immediate plans for a performance car, Jackson did not rule out the possibility of building one on a modular EV platform used by the Stellantis group. She stated, “Who knows? There is nothing certain. I’m not going to say we are going to launch something tomorrow, so don’t get your hopes up.”

Debate on Road-Going Model

The debate continues on whether Peugeot should create a road-going model with a direct link to the 9X8 campaign and its complex hybrid powertrain. Jackson mentioned, “I’m not sure, it’s not certain, but we could do it. Do we need that or do we need to develop the technology on a wider range of cars? That’s under debate at the moment.”

Possibility of Road-Bound 9X8

Jackson has previously expressed openness to building a road version of the 9X8 if there is financing available. However, as of now, there have been no requests for such a model.

In conclusion, while Peugeot is currently focused on electrification, the possibility of a road-going version of the 9X8 Hypercar remains open for future consideration.
