Polestar 3 Wraps Hot Weather Testing, Production Set for Early 2024

The Polestar 3, an electric luxury SUV, is inching closer to production after undergoing extensive testing. Originally scheduled for production in mid-2023, the crossover is still undergoing testing and fine-tuning. Recently, prototypes of the Polestar 3 spent two weeks in the United Arab Emirates for extreme hot weather testing.

The purpose of these tests was to fine-tune the climate system in the hottest of environments. Engineers subjected the Polestar 3 to temperatures of up to 122°F (50°C). This testing ensures that the vehicle’s climate system can perform optimally in extreme heat conditions, providing a comfortable driving experience for customers.

Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath expressed confidence in the development and testing program of the Polestar 3. He expects production to start in Q1 2024. Potential customers can visit select Polestar Spaces to check out Polestar 3 prototype display cars. This allows customers to get a firsthand look at the vehicle and experience its features before making a purchase decision.

The Polestar 3 is equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive system that produces 483 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque. This powertrain enables the crossover to accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 4.9 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph. Customers also have the option to choose the Performance Pack, which reduces the 0-60 mph time to 4.6 seconds and increases the output to 510 horsepower and 671 lb-ft of torque. The Performance Pack includes a sportier air suspension, Swedish gold details, and unique 22-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tires.

Powering the Polestar 3 is a 111 kWh battery pack, which is expected to provide a range of up to 610 km in the WLTP cycle. In EPA testing, this should equate to roughly 300 miles of range. The impressive range ensures that customers can enjoy long drives without worrying about running out of battery power.

In terms of pricing, the Polestar 3 starts at $83,900 in the United States, excluding a $1,400 destination charge. This places the Polestar 3 in the luxury SUV segment, offering customers a high-performance electric vehicle with advanced features and a spacious interior.

The Polestar 3 represents a significant step forward for Polestar as it expands its lineup of electric vehicles. With its sleek design, powerful performance, and impressive range, the Polestar 3 is poised to attract customers who are looking for a luxury SUV that combines sustainability with cutting-edge technology.

As production of the Polestar 3 approaches, potential customers can look forward to experiencing this electric luxury SUV firsthand. The extensive testing and fine-tuning ensure that the Polestar 3 will deliver a high-quality driving experience in various conditions. With its advanced features and sustainable powertrain, the Polestar 3 is set to make a mark in the electric vehicle market.
