The Polestar Synergy is centered on performance, an advanced technical story and sustainability

According to design boss Maximillian Missoni, a supercar inspired by the Polestar Synergy concept could find its place in the firm’s range. While there are no concrete production plans yet, the overwhelmingly positive response to the concept at the Munich motor show and the engineering capabilities of the team make it an exciting possibility for Polestar in the future.

Engineering Expertise at Horiba MIRA Facility

Polestar’s UK-based engineering team at the Horiba MIRA facility plays a crucial role in making the production of a low-volume car feasible. This team, responsible for developing the new aluminium architecture for the Polestar 5 and Polestar 6 models, is well-equipped to create specialist and high-performance vehicles.

However, if the Synergy were to make it into production, Missoni suggests that it would be based on a monocoque rather than the new aluminium architecture.

The Pull of the Polestar Brand

Missoni believes that the Polestar brand has the influence and appeal necessary to create a supercar. He finds it exciting and inspiring to see where the brand will go in the future.

The Synergy Concept: A Fusion of Design and Innovation

The Synergy concept, unveiled as a “fantasy supercar,” is the result of a design contest. Out of 600 entrants, three winners were selected to collaborate with the Polestar design team for six months to finalize the concept’s design.

The exterior design draws inspiration from a hammerhead shark, showcasing “emotional durability” and “technical upgradability.” With imposing wheel arches, a large front splitter, and a dramatic rear lightbar, the Synergy concept exudes a powerful presence.

The interior is performance-oriented, featuring a single sports-style seat, a racing harness, and various digital screens displaying essential information. The traditional dashboard is replaced by a large ‘floating’ digital display, and the yoke-style steering wheel incorporates its own digital display.

A Platform for Collaboration and Exposure

Polestar’s design competition provides a platform for collaboration and exposure for aspiring designers. The brand’s partnership with Hot Wheels and the planned tour of Polestar locations around the world will further amplify the recognition received by the winners.

Missoni expresses pride in the team’s ability to guide and support the winners in realizing their dream as a full-scale model. The Polestar Design Community on Instagram plays a significant role in showcasing the talent of student designers at the start of their careers.

Polestar’s design competition, which began in 2020, continues to evolve. The Synergy concept will serve as inspiration for the next competition and pave the way for Hot Wheels and Matchbox collectibles.
