2026 Range Rover Electric Prototype Spotted Undisguised in Europe
A Range Rover Electric prototype has been spotted undisguised in Europe.
- The model closely resembles its ICE-powered counterpart, but lacks an exhaust and features a partially enclosed grille.
- A debut shouldn’t be too far off, although details are limited at this point.
The Range Rover Electric is already generating excitement as more than 41,000 people have signed up to be on the waiting list. While information about the model is scarce, recent spy shots have provided some insights.
Distinctive Design Features
The prototype of the Range Rover Electric showcases a partially enclosed grille with slender horizontal slots. Additionally, it does not have an exhaust and is equipped with small lightweight wheels, likely chosen to maximize range. It’s worth noting that JLR has announced the use of FSC-certified natural rubber and rayon tires from Pirelli for this model.
Advanced Technology and Performance
The Range Rover Electric will be built on the modular longitudinal architecture (MLA) and will support various powertrain options, including internal combustion engines, plug-in hybrids, and battery electric vehicles. It will feature an 800V electrical architecture, along with in-house assembled batteries and electric drive units.
While specific powertrain details are still unknown, the Range Rover Electric will introduce a new traction control system. This system distributes the wheel slip management task directly to each individual electric drive control unit, resulting in improved performance and responsiveness.
In terms of off-road capabilities, the electric Range Rover is expected to excel. It will be able to wade through up to 33.5 inches (850 mm) of water, surpassing other luxury electric SUVs in this aspect.
