Spy photographers recently snapped the upcoming Range Rover Electric, which closely resembles its ICE-powered counterpart. However, the redesigned Range Rover Velar is expected to receive a sporty makeover.
Recent spy photos reveal a heavily disguised prototype with a more aggressive appearance than its predecessor. While details are difficult to discern, the car features sweptback headlights and a front fascia that appears to have minimal intakes, despite the presence of mesh screens.
The sporty styling continues towards the back with streamlined bodywork and flush-mounted door handles. The camouflage attempts to mimic the greenhouse of the Velar, highlighting a sleeker roof design.
Notable changes at the rear include the relocation of the license plate recess from the liftgate to the bumper. Additional details are scarce, but glimpses of the taillights and a possible “fake” rear window can be seen.
Expect an evolutionary and slightly sportier design, featuring sizable wheels and block-like accents to deceive onlookers.
Little is known about the model at this point. However, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) announced plans to transform their Halewood plant into an all-electric production facility. The next-generation medium-size SUV architecture, known as the electrified modular architecture (EMA), will be exclusively used for EVs. JLR stated that the first of its next-generation medium-size modern luxury SUVs will be an all-electric model from the Range Rover family, set to launch in 2025 and produced at Halewood.
