The New VW Amarok: A Rebirth for Latin American Markets

Production Announcement

Volkswagen Argentina has officially announced the commencement of production for a significantly updated first-generation Amarok. The new model will be available in Argentina and other Latin American markets.

Model Details

Volkswagen Argentina recently released the first official photo of the Amarok designed specifically for the South American market. This updated version of the original pickup truck, which first debuted in 2009, is already in production at the Pacheco Industrial Center in Argentina.

Design and Features

While Volkswagen refers to this model as the third-generation VW Amarok, it is essentially an extensive facelift of the first generation. The new design incorporates modern styling cues from recent VW models, with a focus on a redesigned front end featuring contemporary headlights and a full-width LED bar. The bumper has been sculpted with intakes reminiscent of the smaller VW Saveiro truck.

Technical Specifications

Although specific technical details have not been revealed, it is expected that the new VW Amarok will retain the ladder-frame underpinnings of its predecessor. The model is likely to continue offering the 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V6 engine along with the 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel. The updated model may also feature an enhanced chassis setup and modern interior technology.

Expected Debut

More information about the new VW Amarok for Latin America is anticipated to be unveiled in the coming weeks or months at the official debut of the model. Since its initial launch, Volkswagen has produced over 740,000 units of the Amarok at the Pacheco plant, with a significant portion of the output destined for export markets outside Argentina.
